Pickle Wrap Dip has everything you love about classic pickle wraps, but without all the tedious rolling! Made with just 5 ingredients in minutes, it’s an easy, creamy dip that’s perfect for game day, parties, potlucks or anytime you need a quick appetizer.
I’ve always loved the flavors of classic pickle wraps, but I don’t love the work that goes into spreading, rolling and slicing every single one. That’s why I actually prefer this dip. You get that same creamy, salty, tangy combination of cream cheese, dill pickles and ham, but everything gets mixed together in one bowl in just a few minutes. And I think it tastes even better as a dip!
I make my version with sour cream to loosen up the cream cheese and give it a creamier, more scoopable texture, plus dried onion flakes for a little extra flavor. One thing I learned while testing this recipe is that you definitely don’t want to skip the chill time. It’s good after an hour, but the longer this pickle dip sits in the refrigerator, the better it tastes as the onion softens and all those flavors have time to come together.

This has become one of those easy appetizers I can throw together ahead of time for game day, parties or potlucks without spending forever in the kitchen. I like serving it with keto chips, celery or bell pepper strips, and since it only takes five ingredients, it’s an easy one to make when I need something quick that I know everyone will dig into.

Can I make pickle wrap dip ahead of time?
Yes! I actually recommend making this dip ahead of time because it gets better the longer it sits in the refrigerator. Give it at least one hour to chill, but making it the night before gives the pickles, ham and onion even more time to flavor the dip.
What kind of pickles are best for pickle wrap dip?
I recommend dill pickles for this recipe. They give the dip that classic tangy pickle wrap flavor without adding sweetness. I like to mince them fairly small so you get pickle in every bite.
What kind of ham should I use?
Any sliced deli ham will work. I prefer a savory deli ham that isn’t sweet or honey-glazed. Mince it into small pieces so it mixes evenly throughout the dip and is easy to scoop.
What should I serve with pickle wrap dip?
For a low-carb option, I like serving pickle wrap dip with keto chips, celery sticks, bell pepper strips or cucumber slices. If you aren’t concerned about carbs, crackers and pretzels are great with it too.
Why does my pickle wrap dip seem too thick?
Make sure your cream cheese is completely softened before mixing it with the sour cream. The sour cream helps loosen the cream cheese and makes the dip creamy and scoopable. If it’s still thicker than you like, you can stir in a small splash of pickle juice.
