You’ll feel like you are at an old fashioned soda shop when you take a sip of this keto vanilla milkshake. This shake is the perfect summer time treat. It is creamy, smooth and sugar-free. Adding a scoop of protein powder to this smoothie will add extra protein to this meal and help keep for full for hours.
Once you learn how to make a keto vanilla milkshake you can make this creamy shake for your kids as an afternoon dessert or enjoy a glass yourself with a little bit of whipped cream and sprinkles on top. You could even top it with a cherry for a nostalgic feel.
Vanilla Milkshake Without Ice Cream
Although you could use a low carb vanilla ice cream to make this sugar-free shake, this is an option to make a creamy keto vanilla milkshake without using ice cream. Instead, this recipe uses a combination of ice, heavy whipping cream and nut milk to create a frothy, milky vanilla shake.
Sweetener for Keto Vanilla Milkshake
To add a little bit of sweetness to the keto vanilla milkshake, you can add your favorite sweetener. In this recipe, I use Lakanto brand of sweetener. I opted for the powdered form to make sure all of the sweetener gets dissolved to create a smooth, creamy vanilla shake.
You can substitute with your favorite sweetener as long as it measures cup for cup with sugar.
Milk Options
Although this sugar-free milkshake can be made entirely from heavy whipping cream, I like to thin it out with a nut milk. This will help decrease the calories consumed.
My favorite nut milk is macadamia nut milk. It is creamy and contains very low carbs compared to other nut milks. If you can’t source macadamia nut milk, you can use any nut milk as a replacement. Try coconut milk, almond milk, hemp milk, pili nut milk or cashew milk when making your keto vanilla shake.
Keto Protein Powder
If you want to add a little protein to your keto vanilla smoothie, I highly recommend the whey protein powder by Perfect Keto. This protein powder is made with clean ingredients and from grass-fed cows.
Adding protein powder to a milkshake is a great way to add a little extra protein to help keep you full. It’s a good way to get protein in my kids’ diet without them knowing. My kids love vanilla shakes in the summer time and this is one tasty treat I don’t mind making for them – especially if it has a little extra protein. They also love it with a straw and cherry on top!
