I'm the creator of KetoFocus, and I'm so glad you're here.

I'm a Doctor of Pharmacy, mom, and recipe creator with a professional background in genetics and human metabolism. My mission is to use my scientific background to create family-friendly keto recipes that are easy, delicious, and trustworthy.

My Keto Journey

My keto journey started over 13 years ago, back in 2012. After my second son was born, I had 70 pounds to lose. My husband suggested a "keto" diet.

Given my science background, I was hesitant. But my years studying biochemistry and human metabolism at UC Davis and University of the Pacific helped me understand why this way of eating makes sense.

Within a year, I lost the weight. But I stayed for the mental clarity and boundless energy I'd never had before. KetoFocus is my passion for sharing that life-changing food with you.

My Nutrition Methodology & Philosophy

As a scientist, I believe in transparency. You will find detailed nutritional information for every recipe, and I want you to know exactly how I arrive at those numbers.

  • My Method: Every recipe's nutritional information (calories, protein, fat, total carbohydrates, and net carbohydrates) is calculated per serving using MyFitnessPal.
  • Please Note (The Estimate): I make every effort to ensure accuracy when calculating macros. However, these figures should always be considered estimates. Different brands, variations in the size of ingredients, and your own cooking methods can alter the final counts. For this reason, I recommend calculating your own nutritional information if you are tracking for strict medical or health goals.
  • How I Calculate "Net Carbs": My recipes are designed for a ketogenic lifestyle. Therefore, I determine "net carbs" by subtracting fiber and sugar alcohols from the total carbohydrate count. While sweeteners technically include carbohydrates, they typically have little to no impact on blood sugar for most individuals. This provides the most practical and relevant carb count for your planning.
  • What's Not Included: If an ingredient is listed as "optional," a "topping," or a "garnish," it is not included in the provided macronutrient calculations.
