Annie Lampella
Pharm.D.
I make keto recipes that my own family actually wants to eat, and I back every one of them with real nutritional science. If it doesn’t pass my kids and my husband (my most honest taste-tester), it doesn’t make it to the site.
How a Pharmacy Background Led to a Keto Mission
Back in 2012, after my second son was born, I needed to lose about 70 pounds. My husband suggested keto. I was skeptical, but my years studying biochemistry and metabolism at UC Davis and University of the Pacific helped me understand why it actually works.
Within a year the weight was gone. But that wasn’t the part that stuck.
The mental clarity and steady energy were something I’d never experienced before.
That’s what kept me eating this way for 14+ years, and it’s why I started KetoFocus. I wanted to share what I know with people looking for the same thing.

You deserve to know how I calculate the numbers on every recipe.
- Recipe Testing: Every recipe goes through multiple rounds of testing before it gets published. If something is off, I rework it until the flavor, texture, and macros are all right.
- My Method: Nutritional info (calories, protein, fat, total carbs, net carbs) is calculated per serving using MyFitnessPal.
- Estimates: Figures should be considered estimates. Different brands and cooking methods can alter final counts. Calculate your own macros if tracking for strict medical goals.
- Net Carbs: I subtract fiber and sugar alcohols from total carbs. Sweeteners technically include carbohydrates but typically have little impact on blood sugar.
- Not Included: Optional ingredients, toppings, and garnishes are excluded from macros.
